A fine evening. Some friends and other strangers listening... a nice venue. Sound was good and so I took some chances with some unfamiliar material. Did a Tom Waits number and some Gillian Welch in addition to the standard stuff. Nice

A decent evening at Fids. Lots of people strange and otherwise. Some good players around. Pretty much a straight "Andy" Set.

The long-delayed and much fretted over (pun) CD Post Release Party and Ritual Backyard Music Fest went off pretty dang well, for such a thing in such hands. Sold a few, sang a few, and it was a lovely, lovey night. The kind of night we suffer through the summer to get to.

AFTER THE SHOW

Well, it could have been warmer, but it sure didn't need to be.

The gig itself went fine as these things go. How Dallas and the West Fillmore band get everybody and a set of drums up on that little stage I have no idea. But... for my set-up, with my new little travel PA, it was fine.

Had a good crowd too. Some ODF people and some from Neighborhood... and aliens as well. Not a big CD Sales opportunity but hey it's not about the money, iis it??? Is it???

Played lots of new songs and threw in "Angel From Montgomery" and Gillian Welch's "Wrecking Ball" just for fun. Sure miss having a band. Always interesting playing solo to a roomful of people who would be having the same conversations at the same volume levels if a record was playing.

AFTER THE GIG: Well I haven't played Fiddler's Dream in around 12 years, so it was a little like stepping back in time. The place has not really changed. Had a good group come out (thanks to you all!) to support me so that made it nice. It was good to be playing again; after spending two years with the songs from Andy (many of which I have played for years anyway) I am really ready to try some new things. But also, after two years of working on the recordings... spending hours building tracks around and enhancing a single performance... it was good to be able to begin re-interpreting them. That is, to see what else I can bring to them; and to start re-telling the stories and feeling them LIVE agan. That's a lot of fun.
